2018 taught us that life is unpredictable

2018 is another year of mixed feelings and most important of all, that life is totally unpredictable. So we should be thankful when each day is a peaceful one, and just keep on forward looking during those dark moment.

Goldie's health improved during the year. She is now able to jump onto the bed/sofa easily and those black lumps have shrunk in size. She is now adopting a pretty laid back attitude, but am still playful when being invited to do so.

2018 is a year of improvement for Betty. Initially I was pretty worried about her, for she ate well but was very skinny. A visit to the vet, blood test and words of assurance that she is in good condition, saw her steadily gaining weight and her fur thicken. During the year, Betty also demonstrated that she is a very caring and understanding child. When Felix was in critical condition, I cried while in my room. She would come and sit next to me, giving me comfort. When Felix was in hospital, she seemed lost and lonely. Upon discharge, she would be the first one greeting him.

Felix started the year with a bang. Showing off his charisma and confidence in cat shows. However, since September and lasted till December, sickness took its toll on him. During this period, life was really tough for we were once closed to loosing him. Vets and nurses pitied him - a 2.5 year old kid, being so sick and they were unable to identify the cause. The whole family together pulled our love for him - hospital visits 2-3 times a day, feed, comfort and encourage him not to give up. He is sure a tough fighter, and is generous in showing his thankfulness to medical staff, making him a star in hospitals. Today, though still on medication and regular vet visits, his daily activities are largely back to normal - playing dash, donkey ride, wrestling with Betty and above all eating well and is slowly regaining some weight.

As for myself, my broken right wrist is slowly healing, Its in the 19th week now. Hope that with hard work, I would be able to minimize the handicap over time.

We have completed our second charitable drive in November with Goldie and Betty each winning HK$500 coupon from Whiskers and Paws. Following our usual custom, the entire amount had been donated to Camby Chiu and Carmen Lau to help the children under their care.

Wishing our bloggers and their family A Joyous, Successful and Healthy 2019!

November, a very worrying month

Felix's condition was pretty worrying, as his hands and legs got swollen after one day of drip. His condition turned critical on 28-20/11/18 when his blood platelet dropped to zero. All of us were very worried and we decided to seek Specialist care.

Luckily, he finally responded to treatment and is slowly recovering.

Felix is well liked by vets and nurses in both clinic. His mellow character, adorable look, young age gave us all the drive to find the cause and  cure for him.

Mission accomplished, though not with flying colors

Thank u  all for your generous support in our July charitable drive. We have tried our best (ended up in 5th and 6th position), and manage to win 1 prize for being in top 5.

We have donated all that we won ($700 Wellcome coupon, $300 cat accessories/food) to 2 renowned cat volunteer - Bebe Lee, Connie Wong as an appreciation for their endless love and care towards the less fortunate children.

Thank u all once again. Hope u all will continue to support us.

God bless u all!

As an aside, this posting is crudely made, as I'm currently working with one hand. The recovery will sure be a hard and difficult one. Just hope it will pay off.

Lucky Felix

Day 1

Day 2

From the judges comment, Felix is turning into a muscular boy now, and "COOL" at times.....

Though still a bit tense, he is improving -- nap more and eat some snack while on site.

Had been taking more photos than videos lately.

However, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Hopefully, attached are some of the interesting shots..... Enjoy!!

Felix tried his luck and got himself a birthday present

This posting, similar to others is really for our record purposes, as part of our memories of the  children's life path, rather than to show-off. We trust our blog readers would understand.

This cat show was quite a challenging one, as its a 2 day show (24-25th March 2018). The worst part was that it started late on the first day, at around 2pm - the time which Felix would usually have his afternoon nap. Unfortunately, he had wasted some energy during the 2 hour delay as the absence of tables, means he was being confined to the pet carrier and was on the alert at all times.

Though the results for each ring varied greatly, he made 2 new records for himself - (1) Got first place in 2 rings (something which we never dream of, though he did got a second and third in earlier competitions), and (2) Rosettes for all the 12 rings.

Another encouraging development was that he was willing to eat some food/snack while on the competition site, meaning that he was getting accustomed to the game.

Day 1:

Ring 1 - 1st
Ring 2 - 7th
Ring 3 - 6th
Ring 4 - 6th
Ring 5 - 8th
Ring 6 - 10th

Day 2:

Ring 1 - 4th
Ring 2 - 9th
Ring 3 - 10th
Ring 4 - 9th - Felix was really unlucky in this ring. His actual position should be 7th, and the judge didn't realized he made a mistake until he awarded the rosettes for the 7th place. As judges usually award the rosettes from 10th place up and once the announcement was made, it would not be changed.
Ring 5 - 1st
Ring 6 - 5th

So Felix ended up with a rainbow of rosettes, in time as his 2 year old birthday present:

See how proud both his sisters were of bim!

April 2, 2018

Felix is 2 years old today..... Happy Birthday, dear

Hmmmm.... He also wants to have a photo with Betty, his playmate..

Then he went to sleep next to her...

Surprisingly, at tea time, all 3 children enjoy a taste of the Chestnut pie....

As for his birthday present, on 24-25th March, with luck and hard work, Felix secured a set of 12 rainbow color rosettes as birthday present for himself...... Well done, dear!
